Studio and Set design.

When I work, I often fill my space with inspiring pictures and interesting objects. When I finish a piece from the series I am working on, I hang it up to inspire me to keep going and see if there is anything else I can extract from the overall concept and idea of the series.

Once the series of work is complete, (instead of having a traditional show due to Covid) I make sets to celebrate the work as a whole. It is sort of like a “coming out party.” This is where I can step back, appreciate what I have created and where the fun and celebration begin.

Eric and I plan a photo shoot, dream up concepts and stories around the artwork, pull vintage clothing and pieces I have painted, and VIOLA! He does his photo magic, and then we have a time capsule of the work and how I imagine one would interact with it.

The photos capture that specific period of creation in my life. It takes me back to why I created the work as a whole, what inspired me, what I was feeling, the season, my environment, and how I related to the world.
